The King of Swing: Pete Sampras
During his 15-year tour career, Pete Sampras built a quiet legacy of dominance in the tennis world. With more men’s singles titles than anyone except Roger Federer, Sampras stands—by many accounts—as the greatest tennis player of all-time.
Consider his numbers: 14 Grand Slam titles, a 204-37 career record, the World No. 1 Ranked player for six years straight, and seven Wimbledon titles, a record shared only with tennis great William Renshaw.
The big knock on Sampras was that he never made noise or a fuss about much at all. Standing next to his ever-flamboyant rival Andre Agassi, Sampras looked like just a regular guy. But as Ron Barr discovered in his sit down with Sampras, this tennis legend is anything but regular.
